Abstract Since the out breaking of coronavirus induced disease 2019 (COVID-19), the etiology and clinical manifestations of the disease have been reported and analyzed. There are many similarities between the etiology and clinical manifestations of the SARS in 2003. By comparing the similarities and differences between them, this study attempts to put forward and explore the potential mechanism of gut microbiota in patients, which may participate in its pathogenesis from the perspective of the shared receptor angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2). It may provide a possible way for in-depth study of the pathogenesis of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2) and the development of prediction indicators for severe pneumonia.
