Abstract A novel influenza type A H1N1 virus causes acute respiratory infectious disease. Its clinical symptoms include fever, nasal discharge, sore throat, cough, headache, and diarrhea. Antiviral drugs, such as oseltamivir and zanamivir, are effective treatments. In this article, we report on the first import case of this novel influenza type A H1N1 virus infection in Shanghai, in order to improve the ability of the medical community to recognize this novel influenza.
