| Advances in pretomanid for tuberculosis treatment |

Abstract Pretomanid (PA-824) is one of the latest drugs approved for the treatment of tuberculosis. Pharmacological and clinical studies have shown that regiments containing pretomanid have magnificent bactericidal activity and efficacy against drug-sensitive tuberculosis (Ds-TB) and drug-resistant tuberculosis (Dr-TB). It is expected that pretomanid will revolutionize tuberculosis treatment strategies when put into clinical practice. This article reviews the pharmacological characteristics and clinical studies of pretomanid, and summarizes its efficacy and safety.
