Abstract

Translational research has been emphasized for the lasts everal years, which has also been known as“from bench to bed”. Translational research in medical and biological sciences has promoted basic researchers to apply their research results for the prevention or treatment of diseases. We advocate extending this concept further to Multidisciplinary Bidirectional Translational Research, which is to integrate more disciplines in basic and applied research, such as Public Health, Environmental Health, Economic Health etc in translational medical research. We suggest that researchers can also design studies“from bed to bench”. In our country, in certain institutions, due to the over exaggeration of impact factors of SCI journals that have been closely associated with the awarding of degrees, and even job promotions, some clinicians and scientists are unwilling to do clinical analysis, follow-up studies and long-term projects.
