Clinical analysis of the relationship between polymorphonclear leukcyteson and Ureaplasma urealyticum infection in male patients with urethritis
In the current stady, the polymorphonuclear leukocyte(PMNL) count bymethyl blue stain and Ureaplasma urealyticum culture were used in male patients with urethral inflammation. The goal of this study was to determine a relationship between Ureaplasma urealyticum infectios and clinical characteristics of urethral inflammation. Two thousand two hundred and eighty –four men seeking treatment for suspected swxually transmitted diseases were enrolled to evaluate increased urethral PMNL count. Specimens were examined for presence of the Ureaplasma urealyticum through culture. Among 2,284 eligible men, 645(28.2%) had Ureaplasma urealyticum -infeced. Among Ureaplasma urealyticum-infeced men, PMNLS per oil-immersion field were ≥5 in 158(24.5%), 1 to 4 in 157(24.3%),and none in 330(51.2%),218(33.8%) and 614(95.2 %) in men were asympomati or signs at that stage or their infection. Ureaplasma urealyticum infections showed significantly high levelss of urethral inflammation in male patients as measured by PMNLsand PMNLs (P<0.001). Tese results indicate that both clinical diagnosis and laboratory testing are important in confirming urethral inflammation male patients.
