Abstract

Zika virus (ZIKV) is an arthropod-borne virus of the family Flaviviridae. Recently, the virus caused a large scale epidemic in Americas with a trend of global spreading, and constituted a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). The diagnosis of Zika virus disease is mainly based on the pathogen detection in the laboratory. In this review, the present methodologies of Zika virus detection including nucleic acid detection, serological detection, and virus isolation are summarized.
