Pulmonary infection caused by Nocardia cyriacigeorgica: a case report and literature review

Abstract

Nocardia pulmonary infection can cause pulmonary nocardia disease, which is easily misdiagnosed and missed due to its non-specific clinical manifestations. Therefore, it is very important for clinical laboratories to have the ability of cultivation and identification. If the infection patient is not treated promptly, it can lead to a higher fatality rate. Nocardiosis is relatively rare in clinical practice. In order to arouse the attention of clinical laboratory on the identification and drug sensitivity test of Nocardiosis, a case of pulmonary nocardiosis caused by Nocardia cyriacigeorgica infection admitted to Shanghai Jiading District Central Hospital in February of 2019 was reported. The clinical characteristics, laboratory detection and treatment of nocardiosis were analyzed in the hope of helping clinical diagnosis and treatment of nocardiosis.
